La zona passeggeri del ponte 4 si sviluppa tutta verso prua: sul lato sinistro troviamo varie aree chiuse al pubblico, oltre alle scale che portano ai livelli 5, 6 e 7, sul lato dritto, invece, vi è il salone Poseidon, che arriva fino alla fine della struttura, e che offre il bar ed il buffet Europa. Il salone è diviso circa a metà della propria lunghezza, non tanto fisicamente, quanto nello stile dell’arredamento: nella zona di poppa l’arredamento è a salottini, tipo bar, con divani in pelle, il bancone del bar ed una zona che, verosimilmente, sarebbe dedicata all’intrattenimento; a prua, invece, troviamo tavoli e sedie funzionali alla ristorazione, quindi la brevissima linea del buffet. I tavoli risultano essere, come la Europalink, rivestiti in similpelle bianca.
Ma occupiamoci degli alloggi, situati nei ponti 5, 6 e 7: la mia cabina, numero 701, è posta al ponte 7, appunto, lato sinistro. Con l’ascensore si arriva in un luminoso atrio, una specie di veranda, provvista anche di divani; a poppa, uscendo, c’è una piccola area aperta, con alcune sedie da esterni. Qua si nota una caratteristica particolare della nave: mentre a dritta il ponte 7 è livellato, a sinistra le quattro cabine esterne (interne non ce ne sono), stanno circa mezzo metro più in alto, poste su una specie di mezzanino al quale si accede tramite tre scalini. La cabina risulta essere veramente spaziosissima, come d’uopo nelle navi della compagnia finlandese; interamente moquettata (quanto durerà?) si apre con una specie di salottino, con tavolino da fumo e due poltrone, e quindi i letti, disposti ad “L”, mentre l’altro lato della cabina è occupato da un armadio a tre ante, scrivania con specchio, cassetti e frigobar, ed una TV LCD di circa 27’. Allestimento decisamente lussuoso, se non fosse che, ad un angolo della TV, campeggia un cartellino che indica, in tre diverse lingue, che non funziona. Sull’italiano, nulla da dire, greco assente, il tedesco non lo conosco, l’inglese è decisamente maccheronico. Eppure al lato dello specchio, un altro cartellino verde mostra una lista di canali tedeschi disponibili, probabilmente, in tempi baltici. La cabina offre quattro letti: non serve molto, tuttavia, a capire che c’è un intruso. Infatti, i due “pullman bed” sono totalmente diversi tra di sé, uno color legno, l’altro bianco laccato, e quello color legno è privo della luce di lettura, presente sugli altri tre letti; inoltre, come già detto, tutti gli accessori della cabina sono relativi a tre possibili occupanti. La qualità apparente, appare alta, ma a ben vedere, di note stonate non ne mancano: dalla cabina è impossibile udire gli annunci di bordo; la regolazione dell’aria condizionata appare non funzionante, facendo sì che la cabina sia notevolmente fredda; non vi sono interruttori della luce vicino ai letti; il manifesto con le istruzioni di sicurezza, anziché trovarsi dietro la porta, sta seminascosto in un angolo della cabina; l’oblò, stranamente, sembrerebbe addirittura apribile (come del resto quasi tutti quelli presenti sulla nave), ma le chiusure sono talmente dure da non poter essere azionate; nel bagno, la seggetta del WC non è fissata bene, e dispiace perché, per il resto, il bagno appare veramente pregevole, con vere piastrelle, un box doccia come si deve, dotato addirittura di cristallo (sebbene non proprio immacolato).
Come già detto, a poppa, vi sono numerosi ponti aperti alla fine di ogni livello, tutti collegati tra di se tramite scale; i più vasti si trovano all’esterno del ponte 7 e del ponte 5 ma, desolatamente, da essi è sparito il minigolf ed il tavolo da ping pong è chiuso e fissato alla murata del ponte 5. In giornate di pioggia, poi, è opportuno evitare i ponti esterni che, a causa dei numerosi avvallamenti, si riempiono di pozze.
Il minigolf non è l’unico “desaperecido”: il ponte 6, nel Nord Europa, serviva principalmente per l’entertainment, con la zona SPA sul lato sinistro, la zona conferenze su quello dritto, un ampio bar al centro. La SPA è totalmente scomparsa, a beneficio di una sala poltrone della quale non penso si sentisse la mancanza: la nave è piccola e probabilmente non è opportuno caricarla di passeggeri senza cabina; del bar rimane il bancone, chiuso, mentre la sala conferenze lascia il posto ad una piccola zona bambini. Se non altro, però, i passaggi ponte sulla “Euroferry Olympia” potranno approfittare dei numerosi divanetti sparsi nei corridoi e negli atri, in particolare al ponte 6.
I servizi di ristorazione non danno decisamente lustro alla nave: vero è che si tratta di un traghetto con una bassissima capacità passeggeri, però la varietà di cibo è decisamente povera, la qualità non fa impazzire, il menù offerto è interamente italiano, frutta e dessert vengono presentati in piatti coperti dalla pellicola, non sono pubblicizzati gli orari di apertura (cosa che farebbe comodo, dato che nelle cabine non arriva la diffusione), gli stessi orari di apertura non sono molto logici (basti dire che a cena, alle 20, è già tutto chiuso…), i prezzi non sono decisamente popolari, l’acqua viene servita solo in formato 0,5l, ed, addirittura, viene addebitato pure 1 Euro di coperto, che, trattandosi di self service, credo sia inaccettabile. A questa non brillante ristorazione, si aggiunge un bar che lascia altrettanto a desiderare: non vi sono a disposizione salati, il caffè viene servito in bicchierini di plastica, anche qua i camerieri hanno la brutta abitudine di fare le pulizie portandosi il sacco della spazzatura dietro.
Nota positiva, la puntualità della nave, che parte spaccando il secondo, ed arriva sia ad Igoumenitsa che a Patrasso con 30’ circa di anticipo: vero è che a queste velocità è difficile fare ritardo, ma mai dire mai….
Ad occhio il servizio pare funzionare: chissà come sarebbe con un’altra nave ed altri servizi…anche se, per farsi questa domanda, credo ci vorrebbe decisamente un’altra compagnia!
